I was brought up with music in our home in Scotland and thought every family was like mine. We learned the scales on milk bottles filled with water and it made for a happy noisy household. My father played an accordion and piano and we all contributed eventually with our own instruments – singing all the way.

Two and a half years ago I responded to an ad looking for people wanting to join a community choir. I had taken early retirement about then and I was looking to break away from the intensity of working as an accountant and lift my spirits by bringing music back into my life. I believe music is a healer and unlocks our soul into a happier place. However, the first hurdle the choir had was – we had no Choir Director. After much persuasion, I was appointed and muddled through with as much as I could offer to them. Fortunately, after about a year, my life savers came in the form if Lyn Brooks,  an accomplished musician as Music Director, and Denise Callaway, Music Teacher and Church Organist, our piano accompanist.

This choir has brought so much happiness to me and I have a great bunch of people who all work together to help make it happen.  We look forward to growing in number and becoming a choir who serve our community whenever possible. Come and join me on this happy journey
