The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse continues to sit on Monday 29th August and Tuesday 30th August in Newcastle. It is apparent that even more hearing dates will be required to get through the testimony. The Parish of Wyong was mentioned on previous days of the hearings in relation to a criminal offence in 1990 in relation to the late Stephen Gray, then Rector of the Parish.

The Parish of Wyong is committed to safe ministry practices and supports the Bishop of Newcastle and the Synod in facing the past in order to shape a healthy future.

We apologise unreservedly to those who have been harmed by sexual abuse perpetrated by people holding positions of power and trust in the Church.

We apologise for the shameful way we actively worked against and discouraged those who came to us and reported abuse.

We commit the Church to listen to survivors of abuse to respond with compassion to all those who have been harmed, and to deal appropriately, transparently and fairly with those accused of abuse and negligence.
